Skogskyrkogården invigdes 19 september 1920 av kyrkoherde Axel Landquist. Den omfattar cirka 102 hektar och rymmer cirka 100 000 gravplatser. Den har en krematorieanläggning, fem begravningskapell och en ceremoniplats utomhus.
